Tazaungmon Full Moon Festival

On the 14th Waxing Day of Tazaungmon, group of women take part in the robe- weaving competitions held on the platforms of pagodas, held for two consecutive nights (the night preceding and the night of the full moon). The contestants work nonstop form night until dawn to weave the special yellow monk robes and offered to the images around the pagodas at the dawn time. Set of new robes and other offering are presented to the monks.

Hot Air Balloon Festival is the most spectacular event of the year, held in every November in Taunggyi commonly known the Taunggyi Tazaungdaing Festival. Traditionally it is to pay homage to the Sulamuni Pagoda in the abode of the Celestial Beings by sending up lighted Hot Air Balloons. Thousands of local pilgrims and tourists visit Taunggyi to see the Hot Air Balloon Competition. Hot Air Balloons are released day and night, competing over their beauty and fireworks of Hot Air Balloons. Day time competition is for beauty of animal figures Hot Air Balloons and night time competition is for beautiful fireworks of Hot Air Balloons.
Shwezigon Pagoda Festival

Candle lights and fireworks are carried in procession before offering to the pagoda and offering a filled alms bowl to more than thousand of monks and novices.
